Level: You’re confident catching unbroken waves on custom boards.
Training: specific, goal oriented video analysis sessions - looking at the essential skills necessary to become a great surfer.
Example: Let’s take the bottom turn. You catch the wave and then drop down the face and then with a bit of speed head back up the wave for a top turn. Now there’s bottom turns and there’s bottom turns. It is very difficult to ride the wave properly without performing a ‘proper’ bottom turn. We’ve spent months with some of the British Junior Squads just focusing on this one skill - and trust me, these boys can surf!! The result? Their body position, board angles and speed are transformed allowing them to complete the rest of the wave in a more dynamic fashion.
