Surf’s Up! Boardrider Parent Committee - First Meeting
This a parent committee - a think tank of dynamic and forward thinking individuals keen to push the club onwards and upwards. We discussed what we’d achieved so far, what could be improved in the short term and what goals we should set for the future. For all Boardriders this is a hugely significant development as it allows us to think outside the box and take the appropriate action.

Members - Wendy Sainsbury, Alan Rose, Jonathan Payne, Amanda Woodward, Kim Tredidgo, Sheelagh Driscoll, Jane Davis, Pete Craske, Kelly O’Toole

Team building is all part of the elite training programme
Elite Squad Training
Seventeen Boardriders embarked on a hard core training regime at Easter. This has proved very successful and competition results from events at Watergate, Perranporth and Woolacombe are encouraging. Special mention - Toby Donachie for competing for the GB team at the World Games in Portugal; Harry Tredidgo who has twice got through to the second round of the under 12’s despite being 9!; and Sophie Sainsbury for winning her event at Perranporth over this bank holiday weekend. Fantastic.

Girls Elite and Under 12’s Elite
Our new approach since appointing Kelly has been to push the top tier by providing video analysis, additional group training sessions and competition opportunities. What’s become increasingly clear is that we have a huge number of very gifted Boardriders coming through the ranks and it is with this in mind we will be introducing two new elite groups. We’ll notify those selected shortly. The door is never closed to other Boardriders to join these groups and ongoing monitoring will as always be taking place.

Comps are well supported by the parents. Here's team manager Kim with his son Harry at the English Nationals

Skateramp

Alan Rose putting the finishing touches on the ramp
Huge thanks to Alan Rose for his financial contribution to renovating the ramp. It’s now in it’s new home and available to use at any time. It is exclusively for the use of Boardriders and therefore you have priority. Thanks to the Parent Committee who organised the BBQ for the official opening and well done to those of you who put on a great show, It’s certainly getting loads of use. Please note that you are advised to wear protective gear.

Club Sponsorship
There is currently no other Boardrider Club in the UK that is as active or progressive as ours. And it therefore goes without saying that we have become very attractive to sponsorship from the big surf brands. We should consider looking at forming a partnership, if a) it furthers the development of the club and, b) provides club members with opportunities that we cannot otherwise provide.
We’ll keep you posted on this one - a few meetings have been put in place. We’re keeping an open mind at this early stage.
